Choosing a minimalist Sudoku app
A simple-looking screen is only useful if you can comfortably enter digits, read notes and correct mistakes. Choose the kind of simplicity you want: fewer interruptions, fewer choices or clearer controls.

Test the grid, not just the screenshots
- Readability: can you tell selected cells, fixed clues, entries and candidate notes apart?
- Input: enter a digit and a note, then erase or undo them. Check the number of taps and where your eyes need to move.
- Help: can you find assistance when needed without opening it accidentally?
- Interruptions: finish or restart a trial puzzle and observe any ads, prompts or menus.
- Display: try available light/dark, sound and animation controls. Inspect the settings for timers and reminders if those matter to you.
More tools can still feel simple
You may prefer a plain grid with assistance available in a menu, or a few visible controls you use constantly. Neither arrangement is automatically better. Judge the actions you repeat while solving rather than the total feature count.
When paper is the simpler choice
Use the site's generated printables for a sheet without screen controls. Choose one puzzle per page for writing room, or a blank grid to copy a puzzle.
