Free vs paid Sudoku apps
Start with a feature you want, then check whether the purchase actually includes it. Playing frequently does not by itself mean you need a paid tier. A free version may already cover your routine.

Separate the kinds of access

Examples of different offers
- Sudoku a Day lists a free iPhone download with optional Pro for past puzzles and additional guidance.
- Good Sudoku is currently listed as free with in-app purchases. Check which tools are included in the version you try.
- Microsoft Sudoku describes ad removal and earlier daily challenges as mobile Premium benefits; the listing says that purchase does not transfer to other platforms.
Make your own value check
Try a puzzle first. Note the exact limitation you encountered, such as wanting an earlier puzzle or a particular assistance control. Compare that need with the upgrade description. If you cannot identify a benefit you would use, you can keep playing and decide later.
Compare costs consistently
For recurring offers, compare the total over the same period rather than a weekly price against a yearly price. Include the renewal price after any introductory offer. A one-time price and a subscription buy different periods of access; read the terms rather than treating the cheaper first payment as the better value.
