Best Sudoku apps for your routine

A useful Sudoku app fits how you like to solve. You might want one daily puzzle, explanations that teach a technique, unusual variants, or a sheet of paper. This guide compares seven options around those choices.
We make Sudoku a Day. The feature summaries below come from the linked developer pages and store listings, alongside our own website. This is a feature comparison, not a scored hands-on test of every app. Store availability, prices, and offers can vary by country and change over time.

Learning: look for the reason behind a move
If your goal is to improve, try a hint and check whether it explains the deduction before revealing a number. Being able to practice the same technique again is useful too. Our beginner course and worked strategy lessons let you explore that style of learning in your browser.
Daily play: try the controls before committing
Play a puzzle long enough to use notes, undo, pause, and number entry. Check whether the grid remains readable on your screen and whether the assistance can be adjusted. A difficulty label such as “Hard” is not a standardized rating across different apps.
Ad-free play and pricing
For a closer look at free access, optional Pro features, and playing on different devices, read our ad-free Sudoku guide.
Ad-free and entirely free are separate questions. Sudoku a Day's website offers free daily play and printable downloads; its iPhone app also offers optional Pro features. Sudoku.coach describes its website as ad-free. For other apps, follow the store link and check the exact purchase or subscription terms for your country before paying.
Prefer paper?
Our weekly printable Sudoku packs contain seven puzzles and matching solution sheets, with A4 and US Letter options. Choose your difficulty and download directly. Receiving future puzzles by email is optional and requires a separate confirmation.
